Happy Thanksgiving - our week in a nutshell

I ended up taking this week off from work so I could spend some time 'relaxing' after my hectic travel season at work - but relax is what didn't happen! Last Saturday we had the last of our 3 fall open houses at work - so I was a complete nut-ball for the week leading up to it - and relieved once it was over! On Sunday, Arianna and I surprised Grammie and spent a few hours at her house before we headed off to the airport to pick up Maria and her daughter Maja (Maya) from England. Joyce and Mike had no idea they were coming - so it was a HUGE surprise!

Monday morning we took the kids to see Santa at the mall. Maja had never seen Santa before - and she really didn't like the experience either! Meanwhile, Arianna and Matthew ran right up to Santa and told him EXACTLY what they wanted for Christmas! They sat for a cute photo and then we tried getting Maja up there, but she wanted nothing to do with Santa - so Santa had the kids sit in his chair and he snuck around the back of them. From there we went out to Ashby and surprised Joyce and Mike. Joyce was so excited and surprised she burst into tears! After a few hours there we took the kids to lunch and then went home for naps and mommy prepped dinner for Maria's birthday.

On Tuesday we decided to take a ride out to Yankee Candle in Deerfield. I had never been there and we figured it would be a nice ride. We took Joyce along with us. We spent a few hours there - the kids got to see Santa again, snow falling indoors, and got to smell MANY candles!

Wednesday the kids went off to school. They had a Thanksgiving party, so Mommy and Maria got to come to their school for a few hours. We left the kids at school, ran a few errands and then started making a few things for Thanksgiving. At night I went out to dbar for the traditional Thanksgiving Eve night there. Luckily I didn't stay too late because the rest of the week went down hill as far as sleep goes!

Thursday we went to Joyce & Mike's for Thanksgiving. The kids had a lot of fun playing - and eating! The food was wonderful! After there we went to our neighbor Nicole's new apartment and got to see all the girls, Vinnie and Zee. At 8pm I met up with Marci and we started our traditional "Black Friday" shopping trip! This year we were going to try going to New Hampshire because the stores were opening at 9pm so we figured hey - we'll be home by 2 and then we can sleep! Oh no...no such luck!

We got up to Nashua and the mob scene was like that of a movie! There were cars blocking in cars, people parking in the center of the parking lot, state and local police, and people parking across the street and walking to the stores! We looked at laughed! We tried going to Toys R Us but the line wrapped around 3 sides of the building and they were only letting in 20-30 people at a time! At this point it was 10pm - if we were to drive home, we'd be there around 11 and would only have to wait an hour...let's do that! So back in the car we went - drove back to Leominster and got in the line for Toys R Us. Now...keep in mind...both Marci and I thought we'd be in the stores because they were open - so she didn't bring a jacket, I didn't have my liner in my jacket and didn't have on heavy gloves! We took turns sitting in the car and trying to keep warm - at this point being cold was inevitable! It was just about 12 so we were getting excited to get out of the cold when we found out...oh....they decided to change it to 1am opening! Are you kidding me?!? So we had to wait outside for another hour -and by the time we got in the store it was 1.5 hours! We did get GREAT deals and I ended up saving 180.00 at Toys R Us - so it was totally worth it!!! We then headed over to Target - got in and out in about 45 minutes and then headed to Kohls. By the time I got home it was 5:30 a.m.! Saved over 300.00 so totally worth the exhaustion! I went back out shopping later in the afternoon and got a few more things.

On Friday night Arianna started getting really weepy eyes - and I looked at David and said she has conjunctivitis! Ugh...called the doctor - but they wouldn't do a prescription over the phone. In the mean time she also started coughing again and vomited a few times...GREAT! In the morning I called the doctors office and was able to bring her in. Turns out she has pneumonia AGAIN and conjunctivitis. She was able to have an Xray of her chest so the doctors could take a good look at it. Since she's had this multiple times now they want her to see a specialist. So home we went to rest!

Yesterday I needed to get out of the house. Ari had been on antibiotics for 24 hours - so we ran a few errands and I then took her to the movies. She saw her first movie yesterday in the theater - The Muppets! A MUST SEE! As we were walking in she looked at me and said: "Mommy - I'm just like Annie - I'm going to the movies!" LOL

Today - well I'm hope with both kids. Matthew threw up 3x last night and again this a.m. and mommy now has conjunctivitis! So...that's my week in a nutshell!

Happy Halloween...in November!

Tonight was our Trick or Treating adventure in Leominster! Due to the storm last weekend everything got postponed. Dominic and his brothers came with us, along with Kaeli and Connor! All the kids had a great time and got tons of candy!
