This has been a ROUGH week at our house! Both kids came down with ear infections last Monday and have been SO sick! They keep spiking fevers to 104.5! Arianna went to the doctor 2x last week and was put on 2 different rounds of antibiotics, but nothing seemed to help. This morning David dropped the kids off at Joyce & Mikes, and then I got a call that their fevers spiked again! I called the doctor's office and they wanted to see them both right away.
We got there and Dr. Kennedy checked out Matthew first - said his ear was a little red, but seemed to be heeling. Heard him cough and wanted to take X-ray's of his chest.
She took one look at Ari's ear and said Oh My God - this poor girl hasn't been screaming??? Apparently Arianna's ear was SO infected the doctor was shocked! Now mind you - this is the 2nd round of antibiotics in a week! She went on Monday and then back again on Friday and they upped her dose!
Here's the scoop: Matthew has pneumonia - his ear looks like it is on the mend, but another round of antibiotics for him. Ari - well she has pneumonia (AGAIN) and her ear is so infected. She had to get 2 shots of antibiotics in her leg, and do the nebulizer while she was in the office because she was wheezing. She now has to have prenezone (which is a steroid) 2x a day and the nebulizer 3x a day! We are going for a follow up for her ear tomorrow - then a full blood work up on Monday to test her immune system! 3.5 hours by myself at the doctor was LOTS of fun let me tell you - but I wasn't leaving until I had answers!!! This is getting RIDICULOUS - and Mother's intuition knows something is wrong!!!
